After the success of "You, Me and Autism" I used the processes of portrait photography to challenge aspects of my own autism. I found that with the camera "in between" I was able to engage people with a directness and intensity that would of been otherwise impossible.

For this series I approached "high functioning" autistic people who carved out successful professional careers, both despite and because of their autism. I met, interviewed and photographed the sitters with a spirit of exploration, enquiry and collaboration, producing a series of truly compelling images that encouraged contemplation, dialogue and deeper understanding.
